Think of this for a moment if you will. Mark brought it up in our conversation and it is so very true. If you play football as a child in a Pop Warner or other youth program, you can play high school ball. But, if you are not good enough you may not make the team because not everyone is good enough. Your football career ends there.
If you make the football team in high school you get to play freshman and then varsity for a total of four years. You would hope to go on to a four year college or a two year community college, but you still have to try out and make it as a walk on if you are not scouted and sign a scholarship with that college. Your football career is over. From college if you are good enough you hope to move on to the pro ranks. If you don't play professionally, your football career is over.
My point here is that with most sports you reach a certain level and the opportunities to continue playing that sport close for you. Your career in that sport is limited and short. Baseball is another good example of this. Will the child that plays T-Ball wind up as a Major Leaguer? The odds are he won't play in high school, let alone college or the big leagues. It is not that way with golf. Golf is the game that keeps on giving, even as you get older. The skills may change, but the game can be played and enjoyed for an entire lifetime. It is a gift that keeps on giving. Now, go out there and play some golf!
Let's go play some golf. |
